Supporting The Community
At SAS Adventures Group we are committed to using our skills and experience to aid charities and local organisations to carry out their vital work. We are proud to be able to offer our assistance to them when required, and where possible. Please take a minute to find out more about them and how you can help support them:
Ochils Mountain Rescue Team
The Ochils Mountain Rescue Team is a charitable and accredited Search and Rescue organisation. Their purpose is to locate and recover people who have found themselves in difficult situations in the outdoors. They form part of a network of over 30 voluntary teams that make up Scottish Mountain Rescue.
The Ochils team are based in Fishcross, Clackmannanshire, only a few miles from our base. One of our senior instructors is currently on the team, and his do is also in training as a search and rescue dog.
With the new developments on our site we aim to make it possible to donate to the OMRT whenever you book one of our activities, as often we’ll be out in their patch.
British Divers Marine Life Rescue
BDMLR is an organisation dedicated to the rescue and well-being of all marine animals in distress around the UK. Their main activities include responding to whale and dolphin standings to attempt to refloat them back into the sea, and the rescuing of injuried or abandoned seal pups.
Some of our staff are trained BDMLR “Marine Mammal Medics”, who are qualified to manage these situations and provide care for the animals on site. Other staff are able to lend their support through crewing our water rescue resources that we also provide to the charity.
We are also involved at times with the transportation of rescued seals from around Scotland, and particularly from the Moray coast due to our regular travel on the A9, as the SSPCAs National Wildlife Rescue Centre is only a couple of miles from our base at Fishcross in Clackmannanshire.
The Scottish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Scottish SPCA) is Scotland’s animal welfare charity. Theyencourage kindness to animals, aim to prevent cruelty through education, investigate abuse, rescue animals in distress and find animals new homes.
With the SSPCAs National Wildlife Rescue Centre based only a couple of miles from our base at Fishcross in Clackmannanshire, we are often involved with bringing in seals rescued by other charities from around Scotland. We also make ourselves available when requested to assist with wildlife rescues from more inaccessible areas such as bodies of water, mountains and cliffs.
