If you’re experienced at leading on indoor walls and looking to move outdoors then, this course is perfect for you. The big change with leading outdoor is the placement of gear; while on climbing walls these will have been pre-bolted, you will be responsible for placing your own protection on the majority of outdoor routes you will climb.
While under the supervision of one our experienced and qualified instructions you’ll learn about the different types of gear, and where and how to use them. Climbing alongside the instructor you’ll be able to work with them to understand how to maximise your safety at each feature you come across; making the right choice for each situation.
The same skills are used for setting up belay points at the top of climbs to bring up the second climber and all your equipment. Good outdoor lead climbing is something that takes time to master, but this course will give you a sound footing to be able to start gaining that experience.
